THE funeral for a talented Chepstow rugby player who died aged just 28 will take place next week.
Neil Allmark, of Caldicot, played as the blindside flanker on Chepstow Rugby Club’s first team for about 10 years.
He is understood to have been in a heart hospital in England where he died on Friday, January 9 but had been playing competitive rugby until not long before.
His funeral will be held on Thursday, January 29 at St Mary’s Church, Caldicot, at 10.30am.
In a tweet, Chepstow Rugby Club said: “Will be a sad day for all his friends, family and teammates #NA6 #RIPbro."
In tributes to Mr Allmark, he was described as a "true gent"
Nearly 100 people attended a memorial match between Caldicot and Chepstow at Chepstow Rugby Ground on Saturday, January 17, with Mr Allmark’s family also watching the game.
