THE A466 road through Tintern may be closed for short periods from today because of forecasted high tides scheduled this weekend.

From today until Monday, March 23, the north end at the Trelleck Road junction and the south end at the Royal George junction may be closed for periods of time.

The highest tide currently forecast is tomorrowon Saturday night and is when road closures are most likely. Road closures will only be temporary and will only come into place when tidal water actually overflows onto the highway. The road will reopen as soon as the water has receded from the highway.

The periods the parts of the road may be closed include today from 7.45pm to 8.25pm and tomorrow Saturday, March 21 from 8.10am to 9.50am and 8.30pm to 9.30pm.

On Sunday, March 22, the two closures may be in place from 8.50am to 9.30am and 9.10pm to 9.50pm. On Monday, March 23, closures may take effect from 9.30am to 10.15am.

Natural Resources Wales said they will be monitoring the situation and issuing flood warnings as necessary.
