A NEWPORT team of fundraisers are preparing for a March in March event around Chepstow.

Led by Andy Long, 50, from St Julians, Newport, the team, made up of his family and friends, are calling themselves the Friction Blisters.

Ahead of the event on March 29, they want to encourage others to help raise funds for Cancer Research UK.

The walk is either a 4k walk around Chepstow or an 8k walk continuing to Offa’s Dyke Path.

Mr Long, who is a bass player in the Tim Crahart Blues Band and sold an album to raise funds for the charity in the past, said: "My wife’s mother died of cancer and my dad and my grandfather and other team members have lost close family members so it’s a cause very close to our hearts.

“Knowing the money I raise will help more men, women and children survive cancer is so motivating and we are hoping for a great day out.”

The team, which also includes Joel Long, 25, Ed Hodge, 26, Harvey Philpott, 31 and Chris Edwards,52, are hoping to raise £200.
