THE Welsh Government will be holding a Business Trade Lounge in the Food Hall at the Royal Welsh Show for the second consecutive year.

The lounge will provide a preview of the 68 producers exhibiting this year at the Royal Welsh Food Hall alongside other quality Welsh food and drink products in a dedicated area for key retail and trade buyers. In total it will feature over 200 food and drink products.

Deputy Minister for Farming and Food Rebecca Evans said: “The Food Hall at the Royal Welsh is a must for all visitors to the show. It is a wonderful platform for our food and drink producers and its success is obvious with the amount of visitors flowing through the doors.

"Adding to the success of the Food Hall is the Welsh Government’s Business Trade Lounge. This is a great opportunity to showcase many quality food and drink products to buyers from some of the major retailers and ultimately increase trade with the Welsh producers.”

The Royal Welsh is being held in Builth Wells this Monday to Thursday.

Buyers attending will have the opportunity to meet some of the producers in person to discuss their products.

A range of categories will be showcased, including beer, cider, wine and spirits; soft drinks; dairy; ice cream; preserves; bakery; meat including charcuterie; fish and sea food; special dietary; confectionery and seasonal items.

Rebecca Evans added: “Last year the Business Trade Lounge generated sales of over £300,000. Let’s hope that this year, with over 100 buyers planning to attend from 70 organisations, this will further contribute to our drive to growing the industry in Wales by 30 per cent. as set out in our Food and Drink Action Plan”
