A MAGOR girl who dreamt of having hair as long as Rapunzel’s has had her first ever haircut to raise money for the Little Princess Trust.

Tamsin Williams, six, a pupil from Magor Church in Wales School, had eight inches cut off her curly locks earlier this month.

Having previously heard about the children's charity through her mother, Karen, Tamsin decided that she wanted to donate her hair to make a wig for children who have suffered hair loss.

Inspired, she visited the Bliss Hair & Beauty salon at Magor Square on July 11. Surrounded by balloons and fundraising posters, the haircut took just 30 minutes.

Having originally set a target of raising £350, which would be enough for one wig, Tamsin has since raised £392.

Speaking after her dramatic day, she said: “I had wanted hair as long as Rapunzel's, but I wanted to help people who have lost their hair.

“I’m lucky that I have lovely long, curly hair and I was upset when I heard that some children lose their hair when they have strong medicines or are sick. I wanted to help those children.

“We’ve raised a lot of money and I enjoyed it a lot.”

Tamsin’s mother, Karen, 47, added: “I think I was more attached to her hair than she was. She looks so grown up and she was really chuffed.

“I’m really proud of her.”
