A CHEPSTOW teenager is taking part in a charity skydive in aid of the Serennu Children's Centre.

Tyler Bennett, aged 18, of Mathern, will be plummeting 15,000ft from a plane in order to raise money for the Sparkle Appeal, the charity for the children's centre based in Rogerstone.

Ms Bennett said: "I want to raise money for the Sparkle Appeal because they always helped and supported my family when my 12-year-old sister Lailah was diagnosed with epilepsy when she was younger and recently Nead's syndrome.

"It was hard on the whole family but thanks to them we have learnt how to cope with her episodes so I just want to be able to give something back and say thank you for all they have done."

The teenager competed in the finals of Miss International UK representing Monmouthshire last month and has recently taken part in a 160ft bungee jump at M Shed in Bristol.

She has raised nearly £180 from the bungee jump for the Christie cancer charity and Serennu. She has a target of £1,000 for the skydive which will take place in October at Honiton airfield in Devon.

She said: "I felt I wanted to push myself a little further with the skydive and raise more money."
