WARNINGS of floods have been given for Gwent, including Newport today as rare super-tides hit as part of the lunar cycle.
Flood warnings for Gwent
The most serious are for the Wye Estuary at Chepstow and at Tintern this morning and flood alerts for the Usk Estuary in Newport, the Severn Estuary in Gwent and the Wye Estuary in Monmouthshire also being given.
The super-tides are caused by a unique alignment of the sun, moon and Earth, which creates a massive gravitational pull on the sea.
