A ROTARY Ride held in Magor on Saturday has raised around £1,000 for Prostate Cymru.
Around 50 riders took part in the second annual rotary ride organised by the Newport Uskmouth Rotary and Satellite Club as part of the national initiative involving rotary clubs across the UK and Ireland to raise money to support prostate cancer charities.
The riders set off from Magor and could cycle a five mile route through Redwick village or an 18 mile route through Redwick, Goldcliff and Nash.
James Tovey, 44, from Magor, one of the organisers, said: "It went really well -it's a fun ride. There were a mix of children and adults riding.
"Everybody seemed to be enjoying themselves. It was about raising awareness of prostate cancer as much as it was about raising money for Prostate Cymru."
According to Prostate Cymru, this type of cancer is the most common in Welsh men. With 2,547 Welsh men diagnosed each year and 550 Welsh men die every year from the disease.
