THOUSANDS of football fans will be cheering on Wales in the quarter final of Euro 2016 in the Caldicot Castle fan zone.

Tickets for the fan zone to watch Wales vs Belgium this Friday sold out in under 12 hours. The castle has already hosted fan zones for previous Welsh games in the Euros including against Slovakia, Russia and Northern Ireland.

Monmouthshire Councillor Bob Greenland, cabinet member with responsibility for leisure, said the previous fan zones held at the castle were 'well received.'

He added: “Once again, we’re delighted to host a Euro Championship Fan Zone in Caldicot Castle so that local families can cheer on the Welsh football team against Belgium this Friday evening.

"The atmosphere has been marvellous and it has been wonderful to see whole families enjoying themselves. We wish Wales the best of luck and if they are successful we will look to promote further fan zones for the semi-final and hopefully, the final.”

Chepstow Town councillors at a meeting being held tonight will be looking at whether a fan zone in Chepstow would be possible for Friday's game. Potential locations which they are considering include Beaufort Square and Welsh Street car park.
