THOUSANDS are expected to enjoy the return of the popular annual Chepstow Show at Chepstow Racecourse this Saturday.

The event, held by the Chepstow Agricultural Society, will see visitors of all ages enjoying and competing in various activities throughout the day.

The society runs competitions throughout year between its 70 members on farms which are taken from within a 15 mile radius of Chepstow.

Entrants on the day will have their chance to take part in competitions within the categories of Homecraft, Livestock, Horticulture, Horse & Pony, Vintage and Dogs.

The Lamb National, the brainchild of Bob Hogg and son Tim, will see a flock of sheep navigate a series of obstacles with a sheepdog guiding them around the course.

Mr Hogg will be providing commentary as the likes of 'Red Ram' and 'No Ewe Turns', with each sheep having their own knitted jersey, race around the track.

Other attractions include performances from Chepstow Male Voice Choir, Black Mountain Falconry, Pony Club Mounted Games as well as vintage and sheepdog displays.

The showground will allow traders to sell their wares while a food hall, craft marquee and a licensed bar will provide refreshments for visitors.

The Chepstow Agricultural Society will also give attendees the chance to become members of the group with a membership scheme on offer at the membership tent onsite.

A free bus has been arranged for this year's show, with pick-up points at Thornwell Primary School, Severn Bridge Social Club, Bulwark and Chepstow Bus Station.

The service will leave the Racecourse at half past the hour with first service at 9.30am.

Regular bus stops will be used, with an internal showground bus also planned to be operating throughout the day.

Admission costs £10 for adults and £8 for seniors, while children between 5 and 16 costs £4 and children under five go free.
