A MONMOUTHSHIRE county councillor has proposed a meeting for concerned residents in her constituency to discuss the M4 relief road proposals ahead of a public inquiry.

Cllr Francis Taylor, who represents Mill Ward for Magor with Undy, has suggested a public meeting at the Golden Lion pub in Magor on Tuesday, September 6.

During the pre-inquiry on July 18, the inquiry’s inspector reportedly remarked in the meeting that people in Magor had not come together to present their case for possible alternatives.

Cllr Taylor had previously suggested a meeting between interested parties previously but had received ‘few replies’ to the proposal.

The full public inquiry, which was announced by economy and infrastructure secretary Ken Skates in June, is scheduled to start on November 1.

It will discuss the £1.2 billion black route as well as looking at other options such as the blue route.

People wishing to submit evidence or attend and hear evidence during the public inquiry are asked to call programme officer Joanna Vincent on 01403 217799 or joannavincent@personaassociates.co.uk
