RESIDENTS of Raglan are gearing up for the return of Raglan Day which will be held on the afternoon of Bank Holiday Monday August 29.

The event, which will take place at Raglan Sports Field on Station Road, returned for the first time in over 30 years last year.

The day will commence at noon with a carnival parade and fancy dress participants accompanied by Rocky, the Festival mascot.

At 1pm, all residents and local community groups are invited to the ‘Big Lunch’ where everyone can get together with a picnic to eat lunch together and listen to local singers performing from the main stage.

There will be stalls dotted around the field including local community groups, crafts plus refreshments, ice-cream and a licensed bar.

Activities for children include a reptile display, quad bike rides and face painting.

Due to popular demand, there will be 20 classes for both children and adults in the Homecraft and Produce Tent.

There will be a regular shuttle bus service from the village, and pick up points will be at the bus stops at Usk Road and High Street, with the first bus leaving at approximately 12.30pm.

A spokesman for the festival committee said that they are organising a 'bigger and better event' for 2016, saying: "This year we have brought in new elements such as a dog show with pedigree and novelty classes, and this is kindly being organised by Greyhound Welfare Wales.

"There is truly something for all of the family to enjoy."

Admission is £1 for adults and children under 14 go free.
