THE Art in Penallt group are preparing to showcase the works of several artists and makers at their annual art festival later this month.

The event is centred on Capel Pentwyn in a converted Arts and Crafts period church at the heart of the village.

Since 2010, over 100 leading local and international artists and makers have exhibited over the four days of the festival and the group say sales are 'always consistently high'.

The festival enjoyed greater exposure after organising a preview exhibition at the recent National Eisteddfod in Abergavenny, which saw 150,000 visit the event.

The show opens on the evening of Thursday, September 22, with a free drinks reception at 6pm in Capel Pentwyn where the public can meet the artists.

On the Friday, there is a special exhibition of students' work from the Monmouth Schools with the proceeds of sales split between the artists and this year’s charity, Bridges Community Centre in Monmouth.

The following day will see the Humble by Nature centre in the village running a special course, an event which sold out last year.

There will also be art course in Pelham Hall run on Sunday led by Richard Wills, a well known local artist.

Demonstrators have also been lined up to 'add colour and further interest' to the event and will be performing in marquees in the adjacent Babington Meadow Arena on the Saturday and Sunday.

The main exhibition in Capel Pentwyn runs all the way through to Sunday and is open from 10am to 4pm.
