A Gwent Police spokeswoman said: "At approximately 7:00am, we were called to reports of a two vehicle RTC on the A465.

"A male was taken to the University Hospital of Wales with serious injuries, another male was taken to Nevill Hall Hopsital for non-life-threatening injuries. 

"Officers are currently at the scene and the road remains closed at this time."

A Welsh Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: "We were called shortly after 7.00am this morning to reports of a road traffic accident involving a car and a van near Abergavenny Railway Station.

"We sent two emergency ambulances to the scene.

"One male was taken to University Hospital of Wales with serious injuries.

"We also took one male to Nevill Hall Hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening."

A South Wales Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said that a fire engine from Abergavenny,one from Blaenavon and a rescue tender from Ebbw Vale have attended to the crash.

AN AIR ambulance has been called to a crash of two vehicles on the A465 Head of the Valleys road in Abergavenny.

Traffic is blocked in both directions between the Hardwick roundabout and the turning for Skenfrith.
