PEOPLE visiting Caldicot Castle may notice trees and bushes being cut down on the outside of the grounds.
A sign recently popped up outside the castle stating that trees and vegetation have been cleared to ensure the surrounding moat is not damaged by root growth.
But visitors don’t need to worry, as the castle are only maintaining the upkeep so the historic landmark is kept in good condition for the future.
Louise McGuinness, events coordinator at Caldicot Castle, said tree maintenance is a regular thing to keep the castle safe from root damage.
She said: “It’s just general upkeep really, we put the sign up so people aren’t worried and asking us what we are doing.
“Its ongoing maintenance which is done on a regular basis, we want to make sure the castle is safe and that our visitors are safe and there’s no branches dropping down which could be dangerous.”
