AS CHRISTMAS is creeping up, more and more families will be out and about shopping for their loved ones.

But what events and markets are happening around you during the festive season?

This Friday, Magor Church Centre will have stalls run by a variety of local businesses offering gift ideas and stocking fillers.

The event, which is for adults only and is free entry, will also include a refreshments area and festive foods such as mince pies from 7.30pm onwards.

A Christmas shopping event will also be taking place at Chepstow Racecourse this Saturday, with local businesses selling gifts and treats from 10am to 4pm.

And on Wednesday, November 30, there will be a late night Christmas shopping evening at Raglan Castle from 5pm to 8pm.

The night will feature toys, books, tapestries, Welsh wool blankets and Pembrey pottery for sale, and Cadw members will get 10 per cent off on all purchases.

For those that enjoy singing, Chepstow Rotary has organised a torchlight carol service at Tintern Abbey on Saturday, December 3.

From 6pm onwards, a torchlight procession will head to the Abbey, where carols will be sung within the walls of the building.

Anyone interested is asked to meet at The Anchor Inn in Tintern on the day from 5pm with suitable clothing and footwear for an outdoor event.

Entry for adults is £5 and free for children under 16.

The Abergavenny Food Festival returns this winter for it's Christmas Food and Drink Fair. It's an event not to be missed, with Abergavenny decked out in Christmas finery and the best food and drink producers from across the country selling their wares on Sunday, December 11.
