A BODY of a man found in the River Wye last week has been identified as missing man Liam Stubbs.

The body was recovered from the Wye near to Broadrock at 10.40am on Sunday, January 8 during a SARA training exercise.

Gwent Police said the man was identified as 46-year-old missing man Liam Stubbs, of Monmouth, who went missing in November last year. 

A spokesman for Gwent Police said: "On Sunday, January 8, 2017, a body of a man was found in the River Wye near to Broadrock in Chepstow at approximately 10:40am.

"Formal identification has taken place which confirmed the body is that of 46-year-old Liam Stubbs from the Monmouth area who was reported missing on Saturday, November 20, 2016.

"We have notified the family of Liam Stubbs, and specialist officers are providing support.

"Officers are not treating the death as suspicious at this time."
