A MAN has been arrested in connection with a string of thefts from vehicles in Undy last week.

Officers had issued an appeal for residents to remain vigilant since the incidents began on Wednesday, April 19.

The man in question has been released pending further enquiries.

GWENT Police have issued a warning to Undy residents following a spate of thefts from vehicles since Wednesday of this week.

Officers are urging extra vigilance from members of the public and to ensure that all vehicles are left secure with no items left on view.

Items taken during the thefts have included an iPod Nano, a Severn TAG, a tool bag and an HP laptop.

Gwent Police are investigating the following offences: • Barons Court – a blue Apple iPod Nano and two pairs of children’s sunglasses were taken from a vehicle parked in Barons Court after it was entered at some point between 6pm on Wednesday, April 19 and 1.15pm on Thursday, April 20.

• Apple Avenue - four items including a Severn Bridge TAG, a locking wheel nut, a pair of bright blue Adidas trainers with yellow stripes and a large black Adidas gym bag were taken from a silver Ford Mondeo at some point between 7pm on Wednesday, April 19 and 6.30am on Thursday, April 20.

• Badgers Walk – a white Volkswagen Caddy van was entered at some point between 3pm on Wednesday, April 19 and 8.30am on Thursday, April 20, with a coat, a sat nav and tool bag containing hand tools taken.

• Teal Close – an HP laptop and £3 in loose change were taken from a vehicle at some point between 10pm on Wednesday, April 19 and 7am on Thursday, April 20.

A spokeswoman for Gwent Police said: “A crime can happen in seconds, please don't make it easy for thieves by leaving tempting valuables on display.”

Anyone with information which could help officers investigating these four incident should call 101, quoting the following log references: Barons Court - 225 20/04/17; Apple Avenue - 86 20/04/17; Badgers Walk - 76 20/04/17; Teal Close - 72 20/04/17.

Residents are also asked to report anything suspicious or anyone seen loitering in the areas affected to 101.
