VILLAGES in Monmouthshire were visited by a variety of scarecrows over the weekend as part of an inter-village fundraiser.
Around 40 villagers from Devauden and St Arvans, along with youngsters from Shirenewton School and Beavers and Cubs, took part in a scarecrow trail.
Eye-catching scarecrows ranged from Donald Trump to Mr Potato Head, who won first prize in St Arvans.
Elsewhere a naval officer came first in Devauden, while the prize for the best fancy dress went to Jack Brice, aged five, and Emily and Anna Wilson, aged six and two respectively.
All of the funds will go towards Devauden’s Hood Memorial Hall and the St Arvans Community Plan Steering Group.
The event was organised by Hannah Marangon and Sarah Trim who said: “This was our first Scarecrow trail and joint event but it has proved to be a fantastic success so we’d definitely look to do more.
“We’d like to thank everyone involved - for the making of scarecrows and everyone who attended the event.
“We are overwhelmed with such a positive response from our communities.”
