A PERFORMANCE of the romantic ballet Giselle, screened live from Moscow, will be shown at the Drill Hall in Chepstow.
The tale of doomed love is one of the oldest ballets in the classical repertoire, telling a story of betrayal, remorse and redemption through the power of love.
Performed by the Bolshoi Ballet, it tells how the young peasant girl, Giselle learns that her beloved Albrecht is promised to another woman, and she dies of a broken heart in his arms.
While Albrecht grieves, she returns from the dead as a Wili, a vengeful spirit meant to make unfaithful men dance until they die of exhaustion.
