A BOMB disposal team was seen near Redwick, after it was called to investigate a metal object on the foreshore of the Severn Estuary.
Chepstow Coastguard met with the Royal Navy bomb disposal team at Porton Grounds near Redwick at around 1.50pm on Monday.
A spokesman for Chepstow Coastguard said: "Chepstow Coastguard were tasked on Sunday, April 8 at 3.27pm to investigate a metal object on the foreshore near Porton in the Severn Estuary.
"Details of the object were sent to Milford Haven Coastguard Operations Centre and then to the Joint Services Explosive Ordnance Disposal Operations Centre at Didcot.
"The Royal Navy Bomb Disposal Team assessed the pictures and requested a cordon until the tide covered the object.
"Chepstow Coastguard were tasked again on Monday, April 9 at 1.50pm to maintain the cordon as the tide dropped until arrival of the Royal Navy Bomb Disposal Team.
"Following investigation of the object the area cordon was lifted - the object was confirmed safe."
Coastguard Officers left the scene at 4.30pm.
Anyone who finds an object on the coastline or tidal riverbank that looks unusual is advised to call 999 and ask for Coastguard.
