Swimmers from Chepstow and District swimming club yet again proved that this small club punches well above its weight in the competitive swimming world.
The recent South East Wales Junior Development meet saw Chepstow boys scooping top prizes, with 11 year old Harry Way and 12 year old Thomas Jenkins bringing home the top trophies as "best boy" in their respective age groups, whilst William Miles (12) came in second.
The SEW Development meet is run as a pentathlon event, meaning that swimmers have to compete in races in all four strokes plus a medley to earn points.
Other swimmers who just missed out on the trophies but received medals for coming in respectable places were: 5th - Rosalyn Goodfellow (10yrs); 7th - Grace Miles (9yrs); 8th - Jensen Coppen (8/9yrs) and 9th - Amelia Prosser-Davies (9yrs). Sadly, but for withdrawal (so not competing over all five events), there could have been more swimmers from Chepstow who might have picked up a medal.
Jo Bradley, Assistant Head Coach and Head of Junior Development praised the Chepstow swimmers, not only for the results they achieved, but also for their excellent behaviour.
Chepstow Swimming Club is for children aged 7 to 18, who wish to improve their skills and stamina and ultimately compete in swimming events. For further details or to arrange as assessment, call Elizabeth on 01291 641216 or visit the club website at www.swimchepstow.org.uk.
