Police are searching for a teenage girl who has been missing since Thursday and may have been spotted in Carlisle.

Ellie Fleming, from Johnstonebridge in Dumfries and Galloway, was last seen at around 7pm on Thursday.

Officers say the 14-year-old was possibly seen in Carlisle town centre on Saturday.

She is described as white, 5ft 7in and of slim build with blonde hair.

When she was last seen she was wearing a khaki jacket with a fur-trimmed hood, a blue North Face top, blue jeans and green Nike trainers.

Inspector Hugh McCombe said: “Extensive inquiries and searches are ongoing to trace Ellie.

“There has been a possible sighting of her in Carlisle town centre on Saturday and we are liaising with our colleagues in Cumbria Constabulary regarding this possible sighting.

“She also has connections in the Barrow-in-Furness area, too.

“Officers are increasingly concerned for Ellie’s safety as she is only 14 years of age, we need to trace her to ensure that she is safe and well.

“I would urge anyone who has seen Ellie, or who has any information on her whereabouts to contact Lockerbie police office through 101 quoting reference number 4083 of May 16.”

Police in Fife are also searching for a 12-year-old girl who was reported missing in Kirkcaldy, having not been since since 8pm on Friday.

Kirsty Gallagher has spoken to her family since but has not returned home and it is believed she may have travelled to the Kelvinside or Maryhill areas of Glasgow.

She is described as being 5ft 5ins, of slim build, with long brown hair tied in a ponytail. She was last seen wearing a black and white Nike tracksuit and black Nike trainers.

Inspector Audrey Laird said: “Kirsty has not returned home for over 24 hours. Her family are understandably very worried and just want her home safe.

“We have a number of police resources involved in the search for Kirsty, both locally and in the West, and I am now asking for anyone in the community who may have information which can help, to get in touch with us.

“If Kirsty sees this appeal, I’d also urge her to contact either us or her family as soon as possible.”

If you have any information about Kirsty’s whereabouts contact 101 quoting incident number 4776 of 17th May.
