Although everyone loves a bit of sunshine, it does make sleeping at night very uncomfortable.

With temperatures supposed to be hitting the high 20s this weekend, we thought we'd share some top tips to say cool at night, so you can sleep easy in a peaceful oasis, rather than toss and turn in a puddle of sweat.

1. Freezers are your friend

Try putting your pyjamas and bed clothes in the freezer before going to bed. It is advisable to put them in a bag first and if you don't have much room, just putting in the pillowcase could help cool you down.

2. Moisturise, moisturise, moisturise

Before you go to bed, smoother yourself in moisturiser that has been kept in the fridge.

3. Shower yourself with coldness

Take a cool shower just before bed. However, don't make it freezing cold or your body will react by preserving heat.

4. Coldwater bottle

Your best friend in the winter can double as a quick way to cool down in the summer. Simply fill a hot water bottle with water and either put it in the fridge or freezer to cuddle at night.

5. Spread out

Lying spread eagle can help cool you down as it means that heat can escape from your body easier. Just a tad difficult if you share a bed...

6. Makeshift air conditioning

Put a roasting tin full of water in front of a fan. The fan will circulate the cold water created as the ice melts around the room.

7. Water is cold

Wearing damp clothes or even putting a damp blanket over yourself can all help. You can also hang a wet blanket in front of an open window to help bring the room's temperature down.

8. And if all else fails...

Try a cooler room. Heat rises so sleeping downstairs is usually comfier, or you could always pitch up a tent and have a night outside.
