RESIDENTS of Blaenavon have spoken of their anger after finding out that no less than 16 cars in their street had their tyres slashed.

Gwent Police are appealing for information after 16 cars parked on Queen Street, Blaenavon, had their tyres damaged overnight between Sunday and Monday.

Torfaen and Blaenavon town councillor, Alan Furzer, who has lived on the street for 27 years said that he had never seen anything like it.

He said at about 8am, he could see there was a gathering of about 12 people outside in the street so he knew something had happened.

“When I went out I could see all of the tyres were punctured and it looked like some sort of dart type instrument had been used, with some cars even having both tyres damaged," Cllr Furzer added.

“There were people on the phone to their work explaining and lots of angry people. It is the first time we had had any sort of car damage on this scale.

“It’s hard to understand the mentality of people who can do this as it was just to cause damage. I urge anyone with information to contact the police.”

Gwent Police said if anyone has information they can call 101 quoting log 91 3/11/14.
