EX-WALES rugby captain Eddie Butler has published his debut novel, ‘The Head of Gonzo Davies’, and talks about it at Monmouth Rugby Club next week.

The former Pontypool, Wales and Lions No 8 is now a highly respected rugby correspondent and broadcaster.

His novel tells the story of Gonzo Davies, a back row forward and builder, who has played at the Millennium Stadium. But back in his top-of-the-valleys village, the street lights have long gone out outside the clubhouse which is home to the likes of Capper, the Professor, Useless and Our Marnie.

Full of intrigue and menace, the book is also said to be full of affection and humour, and a story for all those who love (or hate!) rugby. His talk is at 7pm on November 20. Tickets are £5 each from Rossiter Books Monmouth or online at rossiterbooks.co.uk
