A COMMON Oak tree was planted on Henllys Local Nature Reserve on Saturday to mark the centenary of the start of the First World War.
The oak tree was purchased by Henllys Community Council and planted by Friends of Henllys Local Nature Reserve with two of the council's representatives.
The border and posts were supplied by Torfaen council's Woodland Ranger Jon Howells.
The group also placed a remembrance poppy amongst the stones just before 11am on Remembrance Sunday.
It is hopes that the tree will still be standing to mark at least the bicentenary and will be a key feature of the Local Nature Reserve.
