A YOUTUBE film made by staff at a Cwmbran primary school has revealed the secret life of teachers... and they like to rock and roll.

To celebrate the end of term and wish year six pupils well in their new adventures at secondary school, teachers, canteen ladies, cleaners and other staff at Nant Celyn Primary School surprised pupils during the last assembly of term.

In the video, pupils Emily-Rose and Emma pop in to say one last goodbye to the teachers.

But after they leave the office, the teachers make sure they’ve really gone and then decide the coast is clear to bust a move.

They start rocking out in the corridors to Mark Ronson’s Uptown Funk, and the heartwarming video shows the teachers throwing their own party when they think nobody is watching.

They ride scooters through the corridors and swivel chairs in the playground, pop out from behind bushes and sway from side to side on the adventure playground.

A lollipop lady with all the moves turns her lollipop sign saying “STOP” around to coincide with the lyric “Stop – break it down.”

Cleaners shake out bin bags and push brooms in time to the beat along with other staff generally running riot with an empty school all to themselves.

At the end of the video, pupils see the message: “Wishing Year 6 all the very best. Enjoy the rest of your lives! Nant Celyn staff.”

Chris Price uploaded the video on YouTube on Friday and since then it has racked up more than 4,000 views.

The project was top secret with only two pupils in the loop – and they had to refer to it by codename “the survey” whenever they discussed it to avoid spoiling the surprise.

It seems to have been a hit with pupils, with one commenter on the video writing: “I’m gonna miss Nant Celyn so much - it was such a pleasure for you to teach me and I am gonna miss year 6 teachers. Everything is just amazing about Nant Celyn. The video is just awesome. I am crying right now so i am going to stop here THANK YOU NANT CELYN.”
