THIS year’s winners of the Poet of Pontypool have been announced.
The presentation evening took place at Woodlands Field Penygarn.
Pontypool Community Council hosts the annual competition and this year’s themes were ‘childhood dreams’ and ‘where the Afon Llwyd flows’.
The community council said the standard was again very high and judges Gwyne Carnell and John Garwell had a very hard job picking winners.
There were 14 entries in the adult category and around 80 in junior.
The adult winner was David Davies. Second place went jointly to Tony Hopkins and Gwyn Tilley and joint third place went to Alison Langford and Wendy Matthews.
The junior winner was Ryan Crew-Rees, 17, a pupil of Ysgol Gyfun Gwynllyw, and it is the first time he has entered the competition. Second place went to Mia Weaver and joint third place to Jack Holland and Katie Sainsbury.
