COLEG Gwent hair and beauty students from Pontypool Campus ended their academic year with a trip to ‘The Circus’ where they stole the show.

A variety of departments worked to produce the Hair and Beauty Circus themed show, where invited guests had a ringside seat to enjoy the creative talent of the hairdressing and beauty therapy students.

An authentic Big Top mood was created with popcorn served to the audience by complimentary therapy students, Oscar the parrot and other small critters were brought along by the Small Animal Care department based at Usk Campus, and dance group The Young Dimensions were also part of the entertainment.

The School of Built Environment designed and built the circus ring and stage set-up while Art department students produced advertising materials such as posters and photographs.

Helen Morgan, head of school of wellbeing said: “The show was a huge effort from the Hair and Beauty department, and was a great example of how different departments can work together to make a success.

"The whole event was fabulous.”

As well as allowing all students who took part to complete assessments within their main programme of study, the show enabled them to link their work to Coleg Gwent enrichment challenges and Essential Skills Wales.
