A CWMBRAN woman has spoken of the ‘terrifying experience’ after she was attacked by four dogs when she was walking with her two young daughters.

Police are now appealing for witnesses to come forward after the attack near Fairwater Leisure Centre .

Adele Evans, 31, was walking with her six and eight-year-old daughters across the playing fields when her own dog was set upon by two Weimaraners and two Jack Russells.

Ms Evans tried to pick up her own dog Beanz, a King Charles Cavalier who was on a harness and lead, but the dogs pulled her down to the ground by her hair and started biting her.

She tried to push the dogs away with her hands and feet as her young daughters tried to save their mum.

Ms Evans, of Greenmeadow, eventually managed to free herself and ran to safety in the nearby leisure centre.

She suffered a deep cut to her hand, near her thumb joint, and spent two days in and out of hospital.

She also suffered bite marks to her arms and legs, a black eye, and scrapes to her head and neck.

After being taken to the hospital she was put on an IV drip and was given antibiotics, a tetanus jab and a surgical assessment to her thumb.

Her dog also suffered arterial bleeding and was in ‘quite a state’ after the attack.

Speaking to the Argus after the attack she said: “I was petrified and scared for my wits for myself, my daughters and my dog.

“I could hear my girls screaming my name and I couldn’t get off the floor.

“It was a really terrifying experience.”

She added: “It’s really shaken up my daughters and they are suffering nightmares now.

“It’s also put me off taking the dog out at all.

“The thought is really unnerving.

“I have had some lovely messages though from people volunteering to walk their dogs with me to get my confidence up.”

A spokesman from Gwent Police said: “There were a number of other people on the field at the time of the incident and we are appealing for any of these witnesses to come forward in addition to any information about the dogs and their owners. Please call 101 quoting log number 316 10/8/15
