POLICE in Cwmbran are urging residents to be vigilant with their home security and to take simple steps to help keep their property safe and secure.

Residents are being urged to lock all their windows and doors in a bid to tighten security.

It comes after a number of properties have recently been targeted throughout Cwmbran in areas including:

Grange Road, Cwmbran, sometime between the October 30 and November 2. The rear, secure, kitchen door was forced and entry gained. Jewellery, alcohol, household items and cash were stolen. (Log 165 02/11/15)

Barnets, Greenmeadow, Cwmbran, sometime between 6.30pm on November 3 and 2pm on November 4. Entry was gained via an insecure, rear door to property. A television was stolen but later recovered in a nearby subway. (Log 213 04/11/15)

Five Locks Close, Pontnewydd, Cwmbran on November 4 between 12pm and 10.30pm The rear door leading to conservatory was forced opened and approximately £500 was stolen. (Log 509 04/11/15)

An attempted break was also made to the front door and patio doors of a property in The Leas, Pontnewydd, Cwmbran, sometime between 9am and 4.30pm on November 5. Fortunately, entry was not gained and nothing has been stolen. (Log 297 05/11/15)

Crime and disorder reduction officer, PC Tom Delaney, said: “We’ve seen a cluster of homes broken into this week. I’m urging residents to always lock windows and doors and don’t ever think that a burglar won’t target you – they will take any opportunity they can.
