A DISPERSAL Order will be issued for Torfaen this weekend after reports of anti-social behaviour and criminal damage in the Greenmeadow and Fairwater area.
The designated area of the order will include: Tesco, Tesco car park, Bowleaze, Barnets, Clyffes, Littledean, Fairwater Square and car parks surrounding Fairwater Square, Marloes Path, Woolpitch, The Pantry Shop and area car park adjacent – starting at 5pm on Friday, November 13.
Officers will be targeting the street during the weekend and any sort of anti-social behaviour will result in them being issued with a dispersal order.
The orders provide police officers and community support officers with the powers to direct anyone to leave this specified area if they are involved in anti-social behaviour. If they return to that area after being moved on, they face being arrested.
Crime and disorder reduction officer, PC Tom Delaney, said: “We’ve seen an increase in criminality linked to anti-social behaviour, offences of criminal damage to property and an increase in members of the public being caused harassment, alarm and distress.
"Officers will be patrolling the areas regularly to enforce the Dispersal Order and to prevent incidents of anti-social behaviour. If you do see any suspicious activity, please call us immediately on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.”
