A GWENT Police detective constable was dismissed on December 18, for gross misconduct following a police misconduct hearing.
The misconduct hearing was held in respect to breaches of the standards of professional behaviour.
Chaired by South Wales Police’s assistant chief constable, Richard Lewis, it found that the officer, who was not named, had:
• Wrongfully and unlawfully caused an officer in South Wales Police to unlawfully access South Wales Police computer systems;
• Wrongfully and unlawfully obtained confidential information held on the South Wales Police computer systems as a result of the actions of officers in South Wales Police;
• Wrongfully and unlawfully passed the confidential information he had received from officers in South Wales Police to third parties; and
• Lied to South Wales Police personnel and to a supervisor in Gwent Police about his involvement in accessing and obtaining confidential information held on South Wales Police computers.
