NEWPORT County AFC have invited representatives from blaze-hit Coed Eva Primary School to take part in a bucket collection at tomorrow’s FA Cup third round match against Blackburn Rovers at Rodney Parade.

The Cwmbran school suffered severe damage from a fire in the early hours of New Year’s Day, and has remained closed to pupils this week while the damage has been assessed.

The school will re-open on Monday, using temporary accommodation.

There has been a huge community fundraising effort since the fire.

County director Gavin Foxall said: "It is great that we are able to support local causes such as this.

“We are expecting a bumper crowd for tomorrow's game and I know the supporters of Newport County will help Coed Eva in their time of need.

“The club prides itself on helping local causes and its work in the community, so we felt that it was only appropriate to invite Coed Eva to the game to raise funds to support the repair work.”

Bucket collections for Coed Eva Primary School will be located at various places outside the ground prior to the 3pm kick-off against the former Premier League champions.

After the game the Rodney Parade marquee will be open for a function in support of Marie Curie, with the Band ‘2 Rude’ booked to entertain guests. Entry to the event is £3, with all proceeds going to the charity.

The event in the marquee, sponsored by the Ivy Bush, will also include the auction of a signed shirt and match ball, donated by County's Business Club.
