A FUNDRAISING day to help a charity raise money for the donkeys of Greenmeadow Community Farm, including Cheeky, will take place on tomorrow from 11am-3pm.

The Friends of Greenmeadow Farm is free to attend, and collection buckets will be dotted around the Cwmbran farm to be put towards a new stable.

This time last year, the farm’s most famous resident was recuperating after suffering 16 stab wounds across her body, yet Cheeky is back to full health ahead of Saturday.

“Cheeky has come on leaps and bounds since attack in 2014,” said Liz Burns, the farm’s duty manager.

“She’s doing really well, even if Angel and Woody are slightly jealous of all the attention she gets.”

Cheeky and her friends will be taking part in the fundraiser at the farm, with all money raised going towards a potential new home for the donkeys and learning centre for the guests.

Miss Burns added: “The event is organised by the Friends of Greenmeadow Farm and we are hoping to raise some money which will be put towards a new stable for the donkeys.

“We hope that as part of our continuous fundraising projects, we can not only improve the stable for the donkeys but also for visitors in particular disabled service users.”

In additional to the animals at the farm, event organisers have a range of activities designed to appeal to all the ages.

“We have a tombola, a climbing wall with instructors, arts and crafts, face painting and range of other fun activities for the whole family,” said Miss Burns.

“Entry to the farm is free but there will be donation buckets across the farm in which guests can make a donation to the charity.”

The culprits behind Cheeky's stabbing remain unknown to Gwent Police, and anyone with information is urged to contact the force on 101 quoting log 190 15/01/16.
