THREE people were taken to hospital last night after a head-on crash between a car and bus in Machen.
The crash happened on Commercial Street, Machen at around 8.17pm and involved a bus and a 4x4 Ford Ranger.
South Wales Ambulance were called at 8.15pm and took three casualties to the Royal Gwent hospital, including the 4X4 driver and passenger and the bus driver.
The 36-year-old bus driver, from Pontypool, received back and neck injuries from the crash and was cut from the vehicle with hydraulic equipment.
The ambulance service sent three rapid response vehicles, two emergency ambulances, two basics doctors, one hazardous area response team vehicle and one special operations response team.
All casualties are believed to have non-life threatening injuries.
