MUSIC lovers are expected to flock to a Torfaen venue this weekend as part of a three-day charity music festival.

BPM Festival, hosted by the Dragonffli, Pontypool, will invite around 22 acts from Gwent and afar to showcase their talents over the Bank Holiday weekend.

Performers and punters alike will unite at the festival, taking place between Friday, August 26 and Sunday, August 28, with an aim of raising funds for the British Heart Foundation charity.

In addition to the music, the festival will also feature stalls from vintage singers The Rockabellas and Pontypool Indoor Market’s record store, Saving Vinyl Music.

Dragonffli owner, Nick Byrne, is also no stranger to fundraising, having hosted several charity events including 'Ffli Stock' earlier this year to raise money for Newport’s Ieuan the Lion memorial fund.

Mr Byrne, 35, of Pontypool, twins his full-time job with running the music venue in Pontypool, which he acquired in 2013, hosting gigs on Friday and Saturday nights as well as Bank Holidays.

“I like to do as much as possible for charity and always get a great amount of support from artists and people throughout Torfaen and also further afield," he said.

“My achievement for this event would be to raise awareness and funds for the British Heart Foundation.”

Musical acts will play between 6.40pm-11.40pm on Friday and 4pm-11.40pm on Saturday and Sunday.

Friday will see rock acts Doll Rockets as headliners, with support from Bristol-based White Noise Radio, Smiling Tigers, Raise The Alarm and The Third Degree.

A packed roster will keep the party going throughout the weekend, with performances from Saturday headliners, The Johnstown Flood and Sunday’s rock/electronic act headliners, Cosmic Ninja.

Tickets are priced at £2 and doors also open on Friday at 5.30pm and Saturday and Sunday at 3pm.
