A REWARD £5,000 has been offered for information on the arson attack on Coed Eva primary school in Cwmbran.

The Cwmbran school caught fire early on New Year’s Day this year in a blaze which destroyed the nursery and infant classrooms.

The reward of up to £5,000 is being offered by independent charity Crimestoppers.

To date seven people from the area have been arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life and are currently on bail.

Crimestoppers is offering the reward of up to £5,000 as it is believed that there are people in the community who hold vital information that could help secure a conviction.

Ian Johnston, Crimestoppers’ Ambassador for Wales, said: “This arson attack has hit a local community extremely hard with over two hundred pupils directly affected by the destruction of their school building.

“We are now offering a substantial reward for anyone with information to contact Crimestoppers anonymously. By contacting Crimestoppers, via the anonymous 0800 555 111 telephone number or anonymous online form, you won’t have to speak to the police, and you won’t have to go to court. Just tell us what you know, not who you are.”

The reward will only qualify if information passed to Crimestoppers’ 0800 555 111 number or anonymous online form at www.crimestoppers-uk.org leads directly to an arrest and conviction. Information passed directly to police will not qualify.
