A CWMBRAN artist, who previously painted film stars on the red carpet to raise money for Children In Need, has live painted at a charity ball in London, capturing Olly Murs alongside other acts.

Kate Evans of Red Maiden Art raised £3,100 for the annual charity fundraiser, after painting stars of the film Gambit, which included the actors Alan Rickman, Colin Firth and Cameron Diaz.

She attended the Hope Against Cancer charity ball, painting from 1.30pm to 10.30pm, which featured celebrity acts including Olly Murs, Fleur East and others.

“Celebrity acts like Olly Murs and Fleur East, were all on stage throughout the night and I painted as the scene unfolded from 1.30pm until 10.30pm,” said the Cwmbran artist, who is based in Cardiff.

She added that the X-Factor runner-up signed her picture, but she does not yet know how much it has raised for charity.

“Later that night the painting was auctioned on stage at the Next Annual Charity Ball,” she said.

“The theme of the evening was an ‘Enchanted Forest and there were trees and beautiful animal sculptures made of wicker and beautiful backdrops with humming birds and tree branches.

“I have not found out how much the painting raised for Hope Against Cancer but I am very positive that it has made a difference.”
