PARENTS and children came out in force for a themed walk this weekend to raise money for a cerebral palsy charity.

On Saturday, October 15, around 80 welly-clad visitors gathered at Cwmbran Boating Lake to set off on the ‘Welly Walk’ fundraiser.

After getting in the mood with a fun ‘welly warm up’, participants set off on routes around the lake, “giving it some welly” for the charity.

All funds raised will be donated to the Bobath Children’s Therapy Centre in Wales to help support speciality treatment for people with cerebral palsy.

Volunteer and community co-ordinator for the event, Kirstin Jenkins, noted the “lovely feedback” from guests and described the event as“very successful”.

“We were thrilled that the sun shone for the crowd that attended our Welly Walk today and the turnout was fantastic,” she said.

“Thank you to all who attended our volunteers and to Barclays Bank in Cwmbran for their match funding support."

The fourth and final Welly Walk will take place at Caldicot Castle on Sunday, October 23.
