A TORFAEN medic will support riders in the Children in Need's Rickshaw challenge this week.

Welsh Ambulance Service Control Officer, Tony Bond, from Cwmbran, is once again one of the motorcycle medics supporting the BBC Children in Need's 'One Show' challenge.

The event, which began last Friday, November 11, in the Scottish town of Jedburg, invites riders to travel across the UK in rickshaws to raise money from charity.

Taking in the East coast via Newcastle, Scarborough, Hull, Skegness, Kings Lynn and Duxford airfield, the riders will finish by rolling into the One Show studio at the BBC Broadcasting house in London during the Children in Need broadcast on Friday, November 18.

This year's event will be Mr Bond's third and the Cwmbran man will be part of the motorcycle team providing medical and logistical cover to the young Rickshaw riders and the team members accompanying them.

Speaking about the event, Mr Bond added: “It's an absolute privilege to be once again supporting this event,

“I can only hope that the public support that saw £4 million raised by last year's riders, is once again forthcoming.”

"It is a hard, intensive and very emotional event to work on but at least I have the luxury of having an engine on my bike,” he added.
