A WELSH rugby legend was a special guest to a Torfaen based charity to help fundraise towards helping care for those living with dementia.

Adam Jones, the 95-times capped prop, visited the Llanyrafon Social Club in Cwmbran, at the special event organised by Age Connects Torfaen.

The 35-year-old, who plies his trade across the border at English Premiership side Harlequins, spoke to the audience of around 100 people about his career on and off the pitch as well as his scheduled appearance on TV quiz Celebrity Mastermind.

The prop was the second Welsh former rugby legend with the surname of Jones to visit the charity, following Stephen Jones’ trip to Torfaen in September.

Once again, as was the case with the former fly-half which raised £1,000 for charity, the prop’s visit also raised £1,000 for the Sebastopol-based charity.

Angela Reed, the chief executive of Age Connects Torfaen said: “As a charity, we rely on the generosity of the local community to continue our vital work, helping older people to live well by adding ‘Life to Years’.

“Age Connects Torfaen empower older people to be heard, to have choice and control, so they don’t feel isolated or discriminated against and that they receive the support and services they need.

“We work to ensure that those who are vulnerable and at risk are kept safe.”
