THE Trevethin Social Club will host an evening of Welsh Wrestling with the stars of circuit paying homage to their counterparts in America.

The event promises to be a full-on family entertainment extravaganza with as promoter of Welsh wrestling Alan Ravenhill said “It is full on family entertainment where those who come along get to see five or six matches with a host of Welsh Wrestling talent.”

“It isn’t too far away from the American-style wrestling, like WWE. Although we don’t use the props. None of our shows use anything that could be seen to be a weapon.”

“It’s a bit like a pantomime just with a different kind of outfit – I mean we have some guys in masks for example – but it is wholesome family fun, just higher octane.”

“The best way to describe it is like watching a movie where all the stunts are performing in front of you. You get to see the wrestlers throwing each other around and the sounds of the wrestlers hitting the canvas.”

“Some of our guys are big lads – one of our champions is 6’ 6” and weighs around 19 stone – it’s quite a sight to see.”

Mr Ravenhill, who has founded the promotion in 2004, added: “The best way to describe it is like watching a movie where all the stunts are performed right in front of you, it is quite a sight to see.”

Tickets for the show, which starts at 6.00pm on Saturday, March 4, are priced at £7 each and £25 for a family of four.
