POLICE are appealing for information following robberies at two convenience stores in Gwent.

The attacks happened within hours of each other and knives were used to intimidate staff in both instances.

The first incident took place at the Spar store on Greenmeadow Square, Cwmbran at around 7.20pm on Saturday, February 11.

A man, holding a small knife, went into the store demanding money and made off with some cash.

He is described as white and was wearing dark coloured clothing. 

The second robbery happened at 6am on Sunday, February 12 at the One Stop Shop in Usk.

A man approached staff outside the store as they were opening up.

He was holding a metal bar and a small knife which may have had red blade or handle.

He demanded to be taken to the safe and took a substantial amount of money before making off.

The man is described as 5'10" tall, of a slim build, he was wearing grey or white jogging bottoms, black shoes, a camouflage jacket with the hood up and a scarf over his face.
