POLICE have tracked down the owner of three dogs which were trapped inside a car for two days following an online appeal.
On Monday Gwent Police officers Pontypool released a picture of three dogs rescued from a car in Queen Street, Griffithstown.
The post on Twitter said: “These poor dogs, left in a vehicle for two days” and also thanked residents who helped take the dogs to a local vet.
After around 80 retweets, officers said they had identified the owner and sent a report to the RSPCA.
A Gwent police spokeswoman confirmed they seized the car for having no insurance and that RSPCA Cymru were now dealing with the issue.
Panteg councillor David Yeowell said it was “gratifying” to know that the “people he represents are this way inclined to animal welfare”.
A spokesman for RSPCA Cymru confirmed they are “aware of the incident further to the involvement of Gwent Police”.
