RESIDENTS are encouraged to vote for a Gwent nurse shortlisted for a UK award for excellence in practice before the deadline next week.

Sian Bodman is a senior nurse in diabetes for Aneurin Bevan University Health Board, is nominated in the patient choice category of the RCNi Nurse of the Year Awards.

Run by the Royal College of Nursing, the awards are the profession’s top accolade for nursing excellence.

They recognise and reward nurses who have come up with new ways to improve health outcomes, enhance patient experiences and transform nursing practice.

The Patient’s Choice Award gives members of the public the chance to thank a nurse who made a real difference to theirs or a loved one’s care.

Ms Bodman is the only shortlisted nurse from Wales for this year’s awards, the winners of which will be announced next month.
