TWO of Gwent’s prominent giant vegetable growers will be sharing their expert knowledge on the small screen.
Kevin Fortey will appear on BBC One’s Countryfile Spring Diaries at 9.15am on Thursday morning alongside fellow enthusiast, Ian Neale.
The pair, from Cwmbran and Newport respectively, last appeared on television screens in October as part of Countryfile’s Autumn Diaries.
They joined presenter Margherita Taylor at the The National Giant Vegetable Competition in Malvern, and revealed secrets of their craft.
It was at the competition that Mr Fortey, along with his brother Gareth, achieved a UK record with their giant red bell pepper weighing just more than a pound.
This time around, both Mr Fortey and Mr Neale will be visiting the home of BBC presenter Paul Martin - famous for shows such as Flog It! - to impart some further wisdom.
Mr Fortey said: “The programme is looking at hydroponic growing versus conventional growing and imparting our knowledge to Paul and his family.
“I’m all for encouraging more people to give it a go, and it was an amazing experience to be asked back onto the show.”
The episode will be available on BBC iPlayer following its broadcast.
