RESIDENTS and business in Torfaen are being asked comment on the way the council enforces its environmental health, trading standards and licensing policies.

Torfaen council is working collaboratively with Blaenau Gwent council to deliver these services and needs to ensure that enforcement policies are consistent across both authorities.

The policy sets out what residents and businesses can expect from the council, the reasons why enforcement action may be taken, and what options are there.

Residents and businesses are invited to review the draft policy document and make their comments.

Cllr Fiona Cross, executive member for the environment, said: “We are committed to protecting people in Torfaen and at times this does mean enforcing against those who risk our residents’ health and safety, the local environment or public and private property.

“This policy sets out how and why we may take enforcement action, and what action we can take.

“This is an opportunity for residents and business to help us ensure that our policies are fair, accountable, proportionate and transparent.”
