A CWMBRAN couple have welcomed a bouncing baby boy - thanks to their chief bridesmaid being the surrogate mum.

Deri Rogers-Wood, 27, and husband Ben, 30, tied the knot at a big white wedding with ten bridesmaids by their side.

But it was chief bridesmaid Sadie Cox, 40, who made the incredible wedding gift - to be birth mother to the couple's future baby.

And now, two years later, she has given birth to a boy named Lotan Blue Phallon Rogers-Wood, weighing 8lb 3oz.

Deri said: "It was a very long birth but Sadie was amazing. It lasted two days.

"Sadie flew through the pregnancy. She said it was the best pregnancy she's had.

"We are so happy and it is the best feeling in the world knowing that our baby is here.

"I kept everyone updated about the birth and we have had so many lovely comments from people."

Sadie already has four children but wanted to help longtime pals Deri and Ben have their first child together.

Little Lotan was conceived using Ben's sperm and a donor egg in a £7,000 procedure at a private clinic.

Pub manager Deri said: "Sadie was adopted herself and she says she knows what it's like to be brought into a loving family.

"I've known her for over ten years and she even introduced me and Ben back in 2013."

The process to prepare Sadie's body for the pregnancy took a year.

She had to boost her oestrogen levels with tablets and had nightly hormone injections before the embryo was implanted in January.

But she became pregnant straight away and finally gave birth to Lotan - who has a full head of dark hair - on October 3 at hospital in Newport.

Sadie, of Cwmbran, Gwent, said: "I knew I wanted to do this ever since Deri and Ben got together and I know they will be the best parents.

"I can't wait to be in this little boy's life as a friend of the family and I am so proud to have been a part of this. He is going to be very loved."

Ben and Deri chose 10 pals plus Sadie as bridesmaids to make their big day a truly white wedding – inviting each of them to wear their favourite dress.

Deri – who already has son Maccaulay, nine, from a previous relationship – said: "I figured every wedding needs a wedding dress – so why not 10?"

Both men were there for the birth as Sade gave them the gift of a lifetime.

Giving thanks to Sadie, Ben added: "Thank you so much for giving us this opportunity because without you this may have never happened.

"I can't thank you enough now we're home. Love you to the moon and back."
